The Forensic Facility at Texas State is such a unique program that neither of us had heard of before Maddie discovered it while researching. When we looked at media that had been created about decomposition facilities around the world, they focused on gruesome, shocking details, instead of focusing on the fascinating details in the everyday stories of these facilities. We want to educate people about the awesome research happening constantly at FARF and share the impact it has on its undergraduate workers. FARF offers opportunities that can completely change the course of a young student’s career, and we want to highlight the importance of their research programs for students. The forensics department at TXST also serves a historically underrepresented group of largely first-generation students, Latinx/a/o, and women. The significance of these demographics is not lost on us, and we hope to highlight them in our documentary.
We would like to thank Dr. Wescott, the Director of the Forensic Anthropology Center, for welcoming us with open arms and supporting this project since its inception in July of 2023.
